The North Face FlashDry Technology

Introducing The North Face’s New FlashDry™ Technology

This Fall 2012, The North Face is introducing an entirely new baselayer collection to outdoor enthusiasts everywhere, called FlashDry™. The North Face FlashDry™ particle technology is a naturally derived fabric additive that works with your body to control temperature by removing moisture faster than any other performance fabric.

It goes beyond any technology that The North Face has introduced to the market thus far because of the applicability, system performance, and exclusivity, by "turbo-charging" the fabrics performance with enhanced breathability.

When layered, The North Face FlashDry™ garments create a system that work together to significantly improve and enhance dry time and breathability. It helps regulate body temperature by quickly moving moisture away from the skin to facilitate rapid drying yet trapping warm air to keep your core functioning.

Features:

  • Helps regulate body temperature, by quickly moving moisture away from the skin to facilitate rapid drying.
  • Dramatically improves dry time and/or breathability of a textile by way of a micro-porous, particle additive introduced to a pre-yarn polymer or printable layer on aminated textiles.
  • Provides permanent, Best-In-Class performance in each category
  • Improves odor control

The North Face FlashDry Fiber Technology The North Face FlashDry Fiber Technology

FlashDry™ Fiber Technology incorporates permanently embedded active microporous particles at the fiber lever. The active particles exponentially increase fiber surface area, providing superior moisture transport capacity. High surface area fibers are used to accelerate evaporative cooling and drying in conjunction with body temperature to rapidly transport liquid moisture from one layer to another to keep the user dry.

    1. 1.  Evaporated moisture
    2. 2.  Particle fiber
    3. 3.  Air channels
    4. 4.  Skin surface
    5. 5.  Liquid moisture

The North Face FlashDry Laminate Technology The North Face FlashDry Laminate Technology

FlashDry™ Laminate Technology employs a next-generation, ultra-breathable, waterproof laminate that is engineered to remove both liquid and evaporative moisture generated by the body during intense activities. The technology embeds a unique three-dimensional micropore layer of active particles onto a hydrophilic membrane at an unprecedented rate, dramatically accelerating dry time. Unlike past generations of hydrophobic membrane technology, the FlashDry™ laminate is a major progression that allows moisture to pass through the membrane in both liquid and vapor states while maintaining a resilient, 100% waterproof exterior shell. FlashDry™ enables the user to stay dry and feel less clammy and more comfortable over a wider range of temperatures and conditions.

The North Face FlashDry™ Warm Merino

FlashDry™ Warm Merino utilizes a two-layer fabric construction with a FlashDry™ hollow core fiber inner layer that traps warm air and efficiently draws moisture off the skin to the outer layer. A FlashDry™ merino wool outer layer pulls and spreads the moisture across the surface of the fabric for accelerated evaporation and drying performance. High mechanical stretch construction provides a second-skin fit without the use of moisture-absorbing elastane. Ethically sourced merino wool is machine washable for ease of care.

The North Face FlashDry™ Warm

FlashDry™ Warm utilizes a two-layer fabric construction with a channeled FlashDry™ polyolefin inner layer that traps warm air, efficiently draws moisture off the skin to the outer layer and prevents the fabric from sticking to the skin during high perspiration activities. An ultra-microfilament polyester outer layer pulls and spreads the moisture across the surface of the fabric for accelerated evaporation and drying performance. High mechanical stretch construction provides a second-skin fit without the use of moisture-absorbing elastane.
